Over on Forbes.com, baseball is also the lead article for April 15. Forbes staff writer, Mike Ozanian, shares baseball team values for 2017  His focus isn’t on the value of the teamwork, camaraderie and spirit of America’s national pastime, but rather on player’s salaries and the overall worth of each major league baseball team.

The value of baseball is on the rise. Ozanian shares a few staggering statistics:

“The average MLB team is worth $1.54 billion, 19% more than one year ago (to see the impact on the Forbes SportsMoney Index, click here). Values were driven higher by new local television deals that are increasing at roughly a two-fold rate, surging profitability, and the escalating value of Major League Baseball Advanced Media, the Internet and technology arm of MLB.”

If only all businesses enjoyed a 19% increase in revenue year-on-year. Now, let’s all sing-a-long: Take me out to the ballgame!
